Roger was born January 26, 1946, in Goldendale, Washington, the son of J. Emmett and Grace V. Troupe Williams. He died on February 11, 2013 in Newberg, Oregon after a short illness. Roger’s family moved from Goldendale to Snohomish, Washington when he was six. He graduated from Snohomish High School, and moved to McMinnville to attend Linfield College. In McMinnville, Roger met and married Eleanor P. Riley. Both were blessed with 44 ½ years of marriage. With Randy and Chris Trudo, Roger and Eleanor opened The Book Retriever, a used book store in downtown McMinnville. While there he made many friends and enjoyed those who just stopped by to chat. After selling the bookstore, Roger went to work for the News-Register, where he spent 14 years solving computer issues, and as carrier manager. Roger’s door was always open to the many kids whose first job was delivering the News-Register. He retired in 2006. Roger spent years mastering the computer and ham radio, connecting with people around the world. He enjoyed card, computer and tabletop board games, movies and stamp collecting.
