Tyler James Dawson

Date of birth: September 16 1981

Date of death: June 16 2014

DAWSON, TYLER JAMES, 32 years old, passed away June 16, 2014, due to severe heart complications.  He was born to James Dawson and Sherri (Blewett) Dawson on September 16, 1981 at Saddleback Hospital in Mission Viejo, CA.  Tyler graduated from Irvine High School in 2000 where he played football and went on to take some college courses at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA.  During his life, he lived in Southern California, Bend, Oregon and Tigard, Oregon.  Tyler loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, camper and sportsman.  He loved to surf, snowboard, water ski, skateboard, bowl and play group sports.  His beautiful smile and great sense of humor kept those who knew and loved him in stitches.

Tyler is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sherri and Larry Wheeler, of Milton, NH and his father and stepmother, Jim and Beccie Dawson of Laguna Beach, CA.  Tyler's surviving siblings mourning his loss are Jason Buehler of Santa Monica, CA, Dan Dawson of Costa Mesa, CA, Shannon Dawson Lubin of Thousand Oaks, CA, Todd and Sheree Wheeler and their children, Rosalynn, Noah and Mercedez of Sacramento, CA,  Scott and Cori Wheeler and their daughters, Madison and Cassidy of Pollock Pines, CA and Shannon Wheeler of San Leandro, CA.  He is also survived by his Aunt Kathy Blewett of Redlands, CA, Uncle Bill Blewett and wife Kim, cousins Danielle and Rob Smart, Liam Smart, Chaz Blewett, Daniel Tolman, Nicholas Maxwell and Ginger Blewett and Uncle Michael Rosenthal and son Casey James Rosenthal, all from Oregon.  Great Auntie Anne and Great Uncle Don Koontz and cousins Jeff Koontz, Cindee Strausheim, Heather Alexander, Brian Strausheim, Shaylee Koontz and Heidi Koontz,  as well as his dear friend and “sister” Brittany Maynard Diaz and second mother, Debbie Ziegler Holmes and his other second mother and “adopted” Auntie Valerie Daspit and “adopted” cousin, Jeff Daspit.

Tyler lived in Southern California most of his life but spent the last 5 years in Tigard, OR.   His beloved cousin, Danielle Smart, was with him at his bedside comforting him until the very end.  Along with Danielle, Tyler's dear “adopted sister and dear friend” Brittany Maynard Diaz and “adopted aunt” Deborah Ziegler Holmes held him in their loving arms as he drew his last breath.  Sadly, his parents and brother, Jason, were frantically traveling from out of state to be with him when Tyler passed.

The family held a private memorial service at Multnomah Falls Lodge in Oregon on Wednesday, June 18th, , 2014.  Beautiful sunflowers reminiscent of Tyler's brightness and contagious smile were tossed from the bridge into the falls as family and friends said goodbye to him.  Another memorial service will be held in Southern California for Tyler. Crown Memorial Service in Tualatin, Oregon is handling the cremation and notes may be left on the obituary page at www.anewtradition.com.   His loving and tender heart and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Candle lit by Sherri Wheeler - Mother Don't think of him as gone away his journey's just begun, life holds so many facets this earth is only one. Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched.... for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much. A poem by Ellen Brenneman
